ABOUT

BOWEN LYAM LEE
Bowen has been writing copiously ever since a pencil fit into her hand. Journaling has been her lifelong sanctuary. Now the sanctuary doors are opening as she publishes on the world wide web.
When she was three years old, her mother caught her reading a book of Persian fairy tales. This was not a book that had ever been read to Bowen. She was just telling the stories in it, as if that is what one does when turning the pages of a book. Bowen remembers suddenly realizing she could read, when the store signs on Broadway street in Oakland, California were no longer just parts of the building, but were decipherable words. The discovery was disturbing. It meant she could no longer be ignorant.
She started writing soon after that, and a neighbor put her illustrated poem of a black cat on the refrigerator door. Ahh! Publication!
